Eco-friendly golf apparel
We're getting a lot of questions about custom organic apparel. What makes it organic? Are we sure? Is it still a great quality? Why bother? Isn't cotton natural any way? I thought this may be a good place to clarify what it all really means and let you know about some new organic corporate wear options available to customize.
100% certified Organic cotton, means that the fabric MUST contain 100% organically produced cotton. The seeds are not treated with "genetically modified organisms". The crops are rotated, which helps the soil retain water more efficiently. This naturally increases the levels of organic matter. Chemicals, pesticides, or herbicides are not used at all ~ and they mean it! On the Treehugger site there is a post saying that conventional cotton is one of the most chemically-dependent crops, sucking up 10% of all agricultural chemicals and 25% of the insecticides on 3% of our arable land. Get ready...that adds up to 1/3 of a pound of chemicals to produce enough cotton for a t-shirt.
Good thing we have choices. Better yet ~ Good thing manufacturers are paying attention and are producing some nice styles now. These shirts are not only Certified organic, but ring spun too, so extra soft.
I read a lot about GreenWashing. People complaining that companies are hiding under the "Look we're green" umbrella. I understand their point. Speaking just for me, I had no idea we were on such a bad path. I knew about the Rainforest, but I thought that was too big for me to help. The global awareness campaign has helped this individual to understand even what I can do makes a difference. Makes me feel good to buy smarter, to buy Certified. I know it has helped others think before purchasing too. So if a company is buying 100 logo shirts, how nice if the custom shirts were produced with the environment in mind.
I spoke in an earlier post about the eco-friendly golf balls, custom bio-degradable golf tees. There are new lines of eco-friendly golf apparel. Colors, style, affordable, quality, we can have it all now.

Thanks for your comment. Some people believe because the material is eco-friendly it's not comfy to wear.
