Thinking of You Custom Giveaways

It's probably not the best way to come up with ideas for AbsolutePromo, but I find I tend to highlight products that I would want or that I think are useful.  I just moved into a new home and it's still a little scary in the dark, in the middle of the night.  I would love one of these safety night lights.  They can be so many things:  a customized emergency light - if the power goes out they will automatically turn on.  You can take them out of their little AC plugs and they become a flashlight, or simply rotate them to use as a nightlight.  

For giveaways, I was thinking a nice welcome to our bank gift!  Or welcome to the dorm! for new students, Enjoy the rental!  Safety First for a work promotion, Welcome to your new home! 

They each have a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which will last for 7 hours.  They can be considered  Eco too since they will never have to have their battery or LED's replaced.  They're always ready to go.

While I'm talking about lights, here is another new light that I thought was cool. I like the modern style.  They're made of rubberized ABS plastic.  The lights can shine from the top and from the side at the same time.  They're like a promotional flood light. On the side of each are 24 LED lights which gives you some good coverage.  They have four LED's on top that you can use as a traditional flash light.  They feel soft to the touch with a matte finish.  They each have little wrist bands and arrive gift boxed.

2010 Promotions We've Been Working On

We're one of GE Energy's Brand Partners and here are a few of the promotional products we've produced for them this year.  I'm not sure if you can tell from my photo, but the silver piece you're looking at is a ruler paperweight that looks just like a paper airplane.  It was created for a division of the Operations Council Members.   The customized bag that I have everything shown on, is made in the USA, 100% organic cotton logo bag.  Here is the other side, which has a four color process customization showing a great clear image of a neuron:

It's great to work with GE, number one they are always eager to see new products that are out, number two they raise the bar for Absolute Promotions, most certainly and number three they keep coming back and appreciate unique Branding.  One of my favorite clients to work with.

Oh my goodness, this was a fun project to be a part of.  A referral from our client MEGAFORCE RECORDS. The band The Cringe was looking for a way to promote their new CD Play Thing. After a lot of thought, they went with this customizable Monkey's in a Barrel.  Remember that game from when you were little?  You can see from the artwork on their new album how it tied in:

They are intended to accompany samples to DJ's across the United States. Great music, give a listen, it's their third album.

Another unique promotional project we've been working on is for the launch of a new product called miniCHILL.  You know how there are those energy drinks out there that hop you up on caffeine and other fun stuff?  Well this drink naturally chills you out.  It relaxes you and helps you mentally focus.  From what I hear, combined with a little "Spirits",it's a totally different buzzz. "Twice as Nice"  No calories, no sugar, no caffeine and none of that melatonin either.  You should check it out.  (We totally love our clients.)  These guys are risk takers when it comes to promotions too, love that.

A few of our clients needed some inexpensive giveaways that everyone could use.  They went with mobile phone promotional products.  You recognize the Driin Cellphone charger?  I spoke of that in an earlier Blog.  It rocks for recharging your cell phone or iPod and keeping them easy to locate and off the dirty floor.  The other piece you see is to keep the screen of your cell phone clean.  It is a little sticky cloth that adheres to the back of your device.  You know how sometimes your screens get a bit of sweat or makeup on them?  Well this little baby doesn't take up any space so you can still use your case, it can be rinsed under water and keeps its stickiness like new and it sends a positive Brand message every time your clients use it.  I have one for my iPhone and Love it!  I use it all the time. 

This is a mouse pad made of recycled tires.  It's a great promotional product for the eco conscience.  I think there was a time when all that companies gave out were mouse pads.  I think it's time we all get some new ones.  Especially green mouse pads that look cool and won't break the marketing budget. 

 
One more quick one:

I like these mints.  They can fit in your back pocket, two location Branding opportunity, they hold mints and toothpicks.  The rulers?  The back is already imprinted full-color with the presidents of the United States, so that cuts down on a lot of extra charges for extra colors.  The pricing includes your one color imprint on the opposite side.  The best part?  USA Union Made.  Killer plus now days!

Census Promotional Products

It's 2010 Census time here in the United States, the questionnaire is scheduled to be mailed to every household in March.  It's going to have just 10 questions.  That would make the 2010 Census the shortest and easiest to complete since the first one was issued way back in 1790. Governments, businesses and non-profits all rely on the data collected from the Census.  It determines the number of Congressional seats each state has, it decides city, county and school board seats.  It directly affects how more than $400 billion per year in federal and state funding is allocated to our communities for neighborhood improvements, public health, education, transportation and much more.  Helps with Civil Rights too. 

I know this sounds awful, but I'm especially excited over the Census this year because we were able to score a few gigs for customized Census promotional items.  So the 2010 Census for sure helped this small woman-owned business!  We did some work for the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) and the KAFSC (Korean American Family Service Center).  You think small businesses have it bad? Non-profits are really struggling right now, so it's cool that the Federal Government gives grants for promotional materials.  You have to meet their criteria but we were able to exceed their requirements by not only keeping within budget but using eco-friendly promotional items too.  Best part ~ All were made in the USA.  

Each product has to carry the Census Partner Organizations logo and the 2010 Census Logo.  The project can not exceed $3,000.00 including charges from artwork to shipping.  So really, you need a lot of bang for your buck.  You want to reach as many people as you can to educate them about the importance of the Census.  You have to get as many customized products as you can for the money and of course you want the product to be useful.

Compostable Drinkware

New times, smarter decisions, new terminology...your client requests biodegradable cups for their next event.  Technology is moving so quickly that we have new Eco-friendly logo products that are even better than biodegradable.  We can offer compostable logo cups now.

Biodegradable products are good.  They break down naturally through microorganisms like bacteria and fungi over time but when dumped in landfills they sometimes get buried under where the "good" bacteria survives and the oxygen is depleted. 

Compostable is the new and improved biodegradable.  It's greener.  In order for plastic to be considered as compostable, it must be able to break down into carbon dioxide, water and biomass at the same rate as paper.  It must look like compost and can not produce any toxic material and must support plant life.  Most compostable items are made from plant materials like corn, potato, cellulose, soy and sugar.

Once discarded these cups biodegrade in a matter of weeks.  They can't be stored in direct sunlight and they will begin to breakdown in temperatures above 120F.  The cups are guaranteed to maintain structure at temperature 104F and below. They are made from corn.

We can do up to four color process, production is roughly 25 business days, and the minimum is 45,000 pieces to start.  We can do smaller runs with the 16 ounce clear cold beverage cups.  Baby steps....

Did I mention they were made in the USA?  Yeah, feel good about that too.  Made in the USA.

Recyclable and Affordable Eco Mousepad

It's a cork mouse pad. It's about a 1/4" thick and measures 8.75" x 7.25".  It's really light weight and you can imprint up to 19 square inches with a full color imprint, it's kind of like a heat transfer process that is then pressed into the cork. Your mouse moves about easily. Check out the one the Discovery Channel did:

Each mouse pad also comes in a recycled gift box that explains the Eco-friendly goodness within. Cork is like the bamboo competitor in the environmental world, or I should really say ally since they both work as the do-gooders against the world of evil waste. Cork too is natural, recyclable, renewable and biodegradable.  The box has a full tree imprint that is really pretty.

Remember how it was so painful in the wallet to go green?  It's getting easier.  You can do 250 of these fully customized in the $3.50 range...good deal.

Save money with eco-friendly promotions

You don't have to spend a lot of money to spread the word your company walks the green environmental walk.  Have you seen these new magnets that are made of 30% corrugated material?  Minimum is 500 pieces, most shapes are under $.50 each and they have a simple natural look that people like.

It doesn't have to scream ECO-FRIENDLY, this custom promotional idea could just relay the idea that your business is made up of forward thinkers who care.

Or that you Go Green

There are a bunch of different shapes from recycling trash bins to pizza boxes to even small lunch bags. If you look at them from the side, the cross section of each magnet shows the corrugated depth like a cardboard box.  Sometimes the simplest is the best, back to basics.

Branding with Style

Remember I told you about Tanya at Informz? A brander with style.  Last year she chose a logo bean plant to welcome in the holidays.  This year the winner is a BPA free aluminum water bottle with their logo.  Doesn't it look great?  Look close at the card, created on seed paper.  Informz walks the walk, they run on 100% wind power too.

I read every day more and more layoffs, stores closing, negative news...we're all screwed. It's good to know there are companies that are growing and business is coming in strong.  Informz just added 4 more employees this month, 7 new employees in September...Good news.

This is a portion of an email we received today from Diane at the U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management (www.blm.gov) 

Phew! This one was a nail biter.  The order came in on Monday and all these little green promotional products had to be in Arizona with a custom one-color imprint by Friday morning of the same week.  They look so cute don't they?  They made a their own little wind farm on a table as people entered the press conference.   

Arizona is BLM's first large-scale wind energy project.  It's being done through Iberdrola Renewables.  The energy from this project will be fed into the electricity grid to start powering Arizona with clean, renewable, wind energy.  We're really proud to be able to participate, even in such a small way, on this great new energy development in the USA.  Thank you Diane, means a lot.

Need a new eco-friendly promotional idea?

We discovered this product out of necessity the other day.  Working with two monitors, (Heaven forbid we're not doing 10 things at once), our screens were getting dusty and accumulating fingerprints.  The search through the office for screen cleaners began.  We thought "Hey, these would be great giveaway items".  We all need them, can't have too many and useful?  Definitely great Brand representatives. 

Look what we found. This promotional item could go for an environmental trade show giveaway or it would be a great piece to include as an eco-friendly conference giveaway.  It's a keeper. The  reusable molded container is created from 100% recycled material.   You have your choice of hunter green, beige or black.  Each piece  contains  towelettes, antacids, pain relievers, bandages, lens cleaners and computer screen cleaners.  I'm calling it the  Eco Office Survival Kit.     

New Green Promotional Giveaway

When I first saw this I wasn't quite sure what it was.  Now that I figured it out, I think it's pretty cool.  It goes by a couple of different names: Custom USB Smart Button and Promotional Eco-Button.  The old potato pototoe thing, you say custom flash drives, Joe says custom thumb drives, I say custom USB sticks...many names but they all do the same thing.  Well we have a new entry into the USB world.  This new custom tech product, when plugged into a USB port and activated, will save some serious energy.  When you have to leave your desk to attend meetings, head out to lunch, or just spend some time concentrating on paperwork ~ one touch of this eco-friendly promo product puts your computer to sleep.  The energy saved is the same as if you turned your monitor and your computer completely off.  There is a very cool branding factor too.  When the button is pressed to resume work, your website pops up on the monitor. Nice right?  But wait there is even more and it is the best part!  Along with your website displaying, it also displays the calculated stats for the amount of carbons saved during your absence and the amount of money saved! Isn't that great?

They come in many different colors including flashing multi LED's.  I like the fact that I'm able to keep track of how much energy I use every day doing my normal activities.  I'm trying to improve a little bit every day.

Small steps taken by many people can lead up to some great green savings, and I don't just mean environmentally, saving money works nice too.
