Custom recycled glass giveaways

It's important to reuse materials, and why not right?  Have you been to the Steelcase GreenGiants website yet?   The office furniture leader has created a site dedicated to building a corporate environmental community.  Visitors are encouraged to share their experiences and tips, to read the steps others have taken to help our planet and hopefully begin to follow. I like that Steelcase is using their global brand as a tool to educate.  I shared my story.  Doing what we can to walk the walk, "One promo at a time"

According to Earth 911, the typical glass container is made up of as much as 70% recycled glass.  Glass doesn't break down.  So it's good news to read that 80% of recycled glass, as a whole, will end up as new glass containers.  There is a way to use this recycling method to build your brand: Custom recycled glass coasters or customized recycled glass sun catchers with your logo on them.  They are natural and they look it.  Their value is perceived very high, you have your choice of many colors and your clients can feel good when they use them.  You can hand out individual coasters or customize a couple.  It would be a nice touch to tie each recycled glass giveaway with recycled rope.  You can see in the photo United Way also included a logoed personal note describing the green promotional giveaway.  They're walking the walk too.

Customized Biodegradable Plastic Bags

We can do logo plastic bags and not feel guilty, it's okay.  These custom bags decompose in the natural environment.  It is a structure of plastic films that enable microorganisms in the environment to metabolize and neutralize the bags to breakdown naturally.  The bags are available in all sizes from logo doorknob bags to branded large shopping bags.  Unlike years ago the bags are now affordable too, gives us more opportunity to brand a conference eco-friendly.  If the paper bags made from recycled paper won't work, it's good to know we now have an alternative for environmental custom bag ideas.

Eco Golf Goes Corporate

So we're not playing golf yet in New York, but corporate golf outings are being planned for 2008 as I type.  Good news my branding friends ~ We can swing green this year!  We now have Logo recycled golf balls and logo biodegradable golf tees.    ( Isn't this a great photo? )

The golf balls are 100% green golf balls.  The core consists of 30% biodegradable content and 70 % is created from reconstituteable/renewable material. Bonus ~ the packaging is created from 100% post consumer recycled materials too.  The folks who receive the golf balls can also return the balls to the manufacturer when they've used up their life cycle for a $ .75 credit towards some new green golf balls.  (and the cycle continues... )  I realize too, that when it comes to golf, the ball plays a big part of performance.  These eco-friendly golf balls are no slouches in the game of green.  They've been tested in the market along side some top tour balls and have out-performed. Some special dimple pattern of 392 is one of their claims to fame.

About the tees, look just like the wooden tees we see laying all over the golf course but these are all white and made from the starch of corn and potatoes.  They break down in about a year, which is approximately three times faster than the wooden tees.  We can imprint up to two lines on the tees.  There is a 2.25 inch size and a 3 inch size.

Customized Lip Balm

I'm back. Took some time away from the promo gig to hit the slopes with my family.  Great time, great company, great weather, great Vermont ski area ~ Killington.  Environmentally friendly mountain too don't you know!  They work hard to balance their growth while taking care of the environment.  "Beyond compliance" is the term they use.  It's great how they recycle their own water. Up to 35,000 gallons per day during peak seasonal periods, which adds up to over 2.5 million gallons annually.  They have also invested big bucks to retrofit 10 of the resort's walk-in coolers with a refrigeration system that taps into the best source of refrigeration there is...winter.  Isn't it funny how sometimes the smartest move is right in front of us?  For sure we're going to see more and more people utilizing nature for what has become life's necessities.  I believe, in the past, we were always thinking better, quicker,faster creating more efforts and not taking energy into consideration. I mean I still love my speedy technology and gadgets which helps me to keep up with fast life ~ can't live without my Blackberry, but it feels good that so many of us are aware now and thinking smaller packaging, use less, natural energy, reuse, etc... 

So while it's fresh on my mind (From hanging out on top of a mountain in 19 degree weather) let's talk about a favorite promotional product everyone loves to get: Lip Balm. There is a new style out where your logo goes on the full customizable cap which covers the entire stick.  There is a bonus dome location on the top that you can decorate too. Gives what would normally be considered "Oh just another Chapstick" the "Ooooh, nice one!" factor.   Just the response you want when you hand out a promotional piece with your logo on it.  It has an SPF of 20 and comes in 7 different funky colors.  I also like the natural soy lip balm style with the standard small cap. Green power and growing

Hi , isn't this cool? It's the holiday gift that one of our favorite clients had produced this year.  Informz is an email marketing, text messaging and online survey company.  We work with Tanya.  She is a visionary when it comes to customized products.  She knows the message she wants to get out, loves only the best and is open to new ideas. For their holiday gift this year, Tanya wanted to give their clients something that was fun.  She wanted to express the message that Informz uses green power and the company is growing.    So here you go, an unusual customized desk planter. View this photo  Inside a small clear cylinder, is a bit of soil that holds a little logo bean.  The bean is customized with the Informz logo. Give it a bit of water and in a week or so ~ up pops a little sprout with the Informz logo. Tanya had the logo imprinted on the clear container too, so the brand will be viewed during the germination period. To enhance the brand and the opening experience she even wrapped the gift in logo ribbon and set it in their signature orange tissue.  Nice touch!

When thinking about giveaways, even though you're a technology company...there are plenty of items that may not be techie, but still gets your message out there.  Your brand will stay prominent with a feel good smile at the same time.

Customize Power, Promotional Solar Chargers for iPod's, Cell Phones, etc.

On the site Facts about Solar Energy it is said "That in one hour more sunlight falls on the earth than what is used by the entire population in one year."  Amazing isn't it? 

I found a great promotional item that can capture this energy and turn it into power to charge hundreds of different portable electronics.  It's a promotional solar charger.  The packaging it arrives in is even made from 100% recycled paper, now who is feeling good?  The piece fans out to display three solar panels and holds a high capacity battery to collect and store the power.   If the sun isn't available, you can charge it from the wall with one of the four travel adapters it comes with.   The internal battery stores power for up to one year and typically you'd get over two mobile phone charges or 20 hours of MP3 play time from a full charge.  Say the sun wasn't so cooperative and you could only snag an hour of charge time... still good for 15 minutes of talk time or 40 minutes of tune time.  Niiiiice.

Green Swag

Everyone is going green; from small businesses, to large corporations, to households.  We're all trying to make changes in our lifestyle that will help our planet.  I know I frown on products with excessive packaging and I use a refillable water bottle everyday.  I walk to meetings and errands from my office.  I forgot how good it feels to get out in the air. When in my car, I fight the urge to accelerate at lights and I coast down hills whenever I can. 

This trend is coming through loud and clear for green promotional products too.  It's cool we have so many more choices than what we had even six months ago.
